When it comes to newborn baby photography, you can sit back and take a well-deserved break while I patiently settle and pose the little one.
I have 8 years of experience working with babies and have learned a few tricks along the way.
A calm atmosphere and the safety of the newborn are my number one priority and I will adjust my poses and styles to what suits our little model best.

Planning Your Photo Shoot
Pregnancy Photography
Maternity Sessions are best organised in weeks 32 to 36. We will discuss in advance if you have a preference on how you would like to be photographed on the day. This will be an intimate and relaxed photo shoot where you are the centre of it all.
Together we will create a portfolio of beautiful photographs to help you remember this unique stage of your life.
I will provide props such as fabrics and maternity lace robes, but of course, you’re more than welcome to add your own personal touch to the session.
Newborn Photography
Newborn pictures are best taken in the first 4-14 days after birth. This is when your baby is at their smallest. At this age they tend to sleep well and are very easily posed.
Once you have decided you would like to book a photo shoot, get in touch with me as early as possible so I can pencil you in my diary, and save a slot for your session in the weeks around your due date.
Flexibility comes with Catherine Taylor Photography and I always do my best to accommodate my clients as best as possible once the baby is born.

A typical session lasts 2 to 3 hours with plenty of breaks to settle the little one, feeding as and when it’s necessary, and nappy changes or cuddles.
I will provide all props and we can discuss in advance your preference for colours and styling.
​
If you have missed the first couple of weeks after birth, we can still recreate some of the newborn images, it just means that the baby will most probably be a bit more alert and slightly bigger.
I will always adapt my style to each family in order to personalise the experience and ensure you are left with some beautiful memories from our day together.
Family Photography
It’s all about having fun and capturing the bond between you!
Kids are encouraged to be kids! That means they are encouraged to be silly, to play, to dance and to do anything else that will help bring out who they really are. This isn’t just a family photo shoot, this is your family photoshoot, and it has to capture everything that makes your family unique.
These sessions are more flexible and can be done both on location or indoors. We will discuss what’s best for your family.

What to wear? Sometimes a simpler outfit works better on pictures so it’s good to have some plain white t-shirts on hand. It’s also a good idea to have a selection of 2 to 3 outfits with both whites and colours, as well as any accessories or toys you feel will make the photo shoot more fun and relevant to your family story.
